Thursday's    - Starting September 16, 2010 for 13 weeks

Saturday's     -  Starting October 2, 2010 for 8 weeks


Time:            From 10AM to 3PM
(Please bring your own lunch/snack)

Cost:

$275 (Couple in same household with shared books $450)

Cash or Cheque. Visa or MasterCard NOT accepted.
NOTE: Navigation tools and binder are an extra $20

Basic Boating Card

Description

Whether you are an experienced Boater, new to boating or just thinking about getting into boating, this course will help you become a better and safer Boater. This course consists of 36 hours of classroom instruction, covering the following:

  • Boat Characteristics - a review of various boat designs, their materials and advantages.
  • Safety Equipment - what is required, why it's required and how it works.
  • Aids to navigation - what are aids and what do they tell you.
  • Your responsibilities as a boat operator.
  • An introduction to Weather - Tides and how to tie knots.
  • How to read charts, use a compass and plot a course.

As an exam for the Federal Government's mandatory Pleasure craft Operator's Card, (PCOC) is also included in this course. Successful completion of the Boating Course qualifies you for membership in Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons and makes you eligible to take Advanced and elective courses.
